Tips For Painting A Car Yourself
There is a lot of work that goes into painting a car. However, with all of the television shows, such as, Overhaulin’, West Coast Customs, and Powerblock, it appears to be much easier than it really is. In this article, I will give you a few tips for painting a car that will make it easier for you, but it still requires effort on your part.
First, you must realize that this type of work is not for everyone. In fact, I have students that enroll into my auto body class that are surprised to learn the amount of effort it takes to properly repair and paint a car. Of course, I said to properly repair a car. I have watched several YouTube videos where someone is demonstrating how produce results using Rustoleum and a paint brush. Well, maybe that method will work for a farm truck or tractor….that is not going to cut it in the real world. It does take effort and time to do this correctly…more than 1 or 2 hours for sure.
With that said, for the other gear heads out there, like me, the effort is not painful. If you love this type of work, the effort is fun and gets into your blood. So if this is not a hobby you enjoy doing, you may want to find something else that is.
A Mini Guide on 22 Inch Chrome Rims
As any experienced car owner will tell you, the easiest way to transform the appearance of your car and make it more appealing is to install 22 inch chrome rims. While giving your car a paint job and adding some customized accessories will certainly make it stand out in the crowd, the truth is that the job is not complete without adding some of those rims to the equation. In fact, for all people passionate about cars, these rims would be an experience similar to getting the right pair of shoes that can compliment your entire outfit.
The aforementioned rims are usually made out of a magnesium and aluminum alloy and their wide width offers the vehicle more stability and balance. While the big rims are of absolute necessity for all large cars and trucks, the advantage of adding these rims on a smaller one is that they will give the driver a higher sense of control. Nonetheless, it is important to note that even though the chrome rims do have a lot to add to a car, they will also produce more vibration, which sometimes can be unpleasant for the driver as well as passengers.
In order for these rims to create an appealing impression of a brand new car, they will require more maintenance than other rims. The chrome rims greatest fault is that they can get spills easily and start looking awful, especially if you are living in a rainy area. However, you will not have any trouble in cleaning them up with a special mild car shampoo and a soft cloth, as to avoid scratching your wonderful rims.
How To Take Better Care Of Your New Car
There is nothing like getting a new vehicle to add some excitement to your life! Even if the one you purchase is used, it is still new to you and feels good. Newer autos now days need a lot less maintenance to keep them on the road than vehicles of the old days. There used to be spark plugs to change as well as a condenser and other things. Rust of the body of the auto was just expected with age. Now days, you shouldn’t have to change a spark plug for about 100,000 miles. We now have electronic ignition to help cut maintenance as well. Many parts of the vehicles today that need lubrication such as the suspensions and chassis can be done only once in their lifetime. Even the bodies of the vehicles now are made to prevent rust for the most part for several years. You can now rely on your auto much more than you could in the past. You may not have to worry as much when you decide to take off on a road trip with your family across the country. There are some good things you can do with your new ride that can help keep it running at its best and help it be reliable for you for years to come.
First, you can regularly check the engine oil in the car. If you are finding that you need to add oil very often or if you notice an oil leak, you may want to check it every week or so, otherwise, a monthly check will probably do. When you check the oil, make sure your car is level and not parked on any sort of a slope or the check won’t be accurate. You auto needs to be parked on a level surface to read the correct oil level with the oil dipstick. If you do find an oil leak, it is a good idea to have it fixed as soon as possible.
The next thing you can do to help with the efficiency of your car is to regularly check the tire air pressure. Monthly is a good interval to do this check on the air pressure in the tires, but you probably always want to do it before any long road trips. You can have a professional check the pressure for you, or you can use a good tire-pressure gauge and check the pressure in the tires yourself. You will want to be sure to get the spare tire out as well and make sure it is properly inflated also just in case you need it. The best time to check the tires is when they are cold and has not been driven very far and had a chance for the tires to heat up. The manufacturer will have a recommended inflation pressure for the tires which is more accurate to go by than the pressure indicated on the tires.
When and How to Remove 3M Carbon Fiber
When you first install 3M carbon fiber, you may not think about ever removing it but eventually you may want to try a new pattern or the vinyl may become damaged making it necessary to repair. 3M Di-noc vinyl is guaranteed for ten years when it’s used on areas inside but for vehicles and other items used outside, the guarantee is for five years.
3M carbon fiber has a grooved adhesive design that, when applied properly, helps to remove air bubbles for a professional look but it also reduces the risk of the vinyl lifting and peeling after installation. This design allows the vinyl to cling tightly to the surface area but you can still remove it without a lot of hassles when the need arises.
Removing the carbon fiber is just as important as installing it because you don’t want to cause any damage to the surface area. When the time comes to remove the vinyl, there are certain techniques that can make the process go smoothly without damaging the surface underneath.

A vehicle is one of the most important possessions that you own. It is also likely one of the most expensive items that you own. Since you probably use your vehicle so often and have a large amount of money invested into it, you need to take care of it so it holds its value as much as possible. This means that you should be doing periodic cleaning and maintenance of your car, truck or sport utility vehicle.
One of the best ways to keep your vehicle in good condition while at the same time, maintaining its appearance, is to clean your vehicle regularly. Cleaning a vehicle can take a good chunk of time, but will be worth it. There are several things that you can do to make the job a little bit easier and some tips that you should follow to avoid damaging your vehicle.
The first part of your car, truck, or SUV that you will want to clean is the exterior. Exteriors take a lot of abuse from the sun, debris on the road, other vehicles, and weather so it will be important to not only clean, but also to protect. Before you start scrubbing away on your car, you will want to make sure you get all of the dirt, debris and dust off of the paint surfaces. If you go right into scrubbing, you may be scratching the paint and clear coat of your car. Spray the entire vehicle down with water (pressurized will work the best) and try to remove any visible debris. Next, take some soapy water and start to wash the vehicle. Use circular motions and try to avoid letting the soap dry. After you have scrubbed the exterior, you can remove the soapy water with clean water. If you have access to soft water, water that has had the major chemicals removed, you will be much less likely to get water spots.

Car seat covers protect your seats by keeping dirt, liquid and other debris from falling onto the seats and causing damage. Creating your own customized car seat covers is a great way to add some personality and uniqueness to your car. This can be a fun project that you can do alone, with your spouse or your kids. The options are limitless. By creating your own signature car seat covers, you can be sure that you car will definitely be one of a kind. Below are some ideas on how to customize your very own car seat cover.
Simple & Sophisticated: If you don’t want to go overboard and just want to add a few small details, start by buying a car seat color in a neutral solid color like black, brown or beige. Leather car seat covers are by far superior, but you can also get cloth and make them look nice. If you have a signature symbol or design that you always use, like a star, heart, or your own design next to your name, then this would look good in simple black embroidered on the side of the cover, perhaps next to your initials. This could also make a nice personalized gift idea. You can get this done at any shop that does printing and custom t-shirts. You can choose your name or initials in many different fonts. Try contrasting colors, like white font on a black cover, or turquoise on top of white. This is a nice classy touch without being over the top.
Car Washing Water Usage – Then and Now
Several months ago, I was contacted by a gentleman in-charge of a large industrial government facility and he was trying to calculate the water usage of the car wash on the property for the last couple of decades in order to justify its existence into the future with regards to water costs, and water reclamation needs. He’d read one of my old articles from a decade or so prior perhaps in a trade journal somewhere or maybe online, he didn’t say.
He wanted to know where the information came from, and I have no doubt some of the water usage data had come from my own personal experiences and the annual surveys from the ICA – International Carwash Association or a mid-1990 survey in Professional Carwashing and Detailing News, perhaps, I should have footnoted each of the data points, but alas, I hadn’t, generally I’ll write industry articles from memory, experience, and knowledge in the sector.
Still, I indicated to him that I needed to make him aware of the reality of such surveys, due to the fact that such data points are from mixed results from all types of car washes; coin-op, full-service, automatic, hand wash, and flex service car washes from all 50 states and included is data from US territories too. Thus, my stated usage on average of 37 gallons per car is somewhat irrelevant as car washes that are coin-op average 11-gallons, car washes which recycle average 22, and automated car washes at gas fill-up stations claim 20-28 gallons, hand washes 12 gallons, and car washes that do not recycle 48-gallons.

The Benefits of Car Window Tinting
Car window tinting offers many benefits to drivers and passengers while providing protection to the car itself. It also provides a sharp appearance where drivers have the advantage of seeing out, but thieves do not have the advantage of seeing in.
Ultra Violet Rays Automotive tinting reflects the sun’s rays away from the interior of the car and provides UV protection. Unprotected windows only reject up to 28 percent ultra violet rays at the most while a car tint provides up to 99 percent protection. Car interior color does not fade as readily because of this UV protection. Drivers spend about 60 to 90 minutes in an automobile each day and are subject to ultra violet rays when windows are not tinted. Tinted windows protect drivers from those rays and reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Keeping Cool Ultra violet rays produce heat, which causes high temperatures in closed up cars. This heat can reach unbearable temperatures in warm climates and may cause upholstery to flake and peel, or dashboards to crack. Expensive leather interiors may dry out and crack. Extreme heat also causes chemicals in the upholstery to be released into the compartment. Chemicals used in fire retardant materials, such as Polybromiated diphenyl ethers or chemicals used to make plastic softer, like phthalates, pollute the interior of the car when heat is high. Automotive tinting reduces up to 80 percent of the heat that causes this pollution. Not only that, but it increases the efficiency of the car air conditioners because interior temperatures stay much cooler.
